On Friday, Jan. 19, at approximately 1:15 p.m., members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single vehicle traffic accident on Interstate 64 near the 170 mile marker. Upon arrival officers observed that a pick up truck had struck the guardrail and came to rest in the roadway blocking one of the travel lanes.
The driver was unresponsive and EMS personnel were able to gain access to the lone occupant and transport them to a local hospital, where they were subsequently pronounced deceased.
The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of the family.
Deputy Herman Rodriguez of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department is the investigating officer.
