Asheville, VA-Jerry Lee Hanson, born on Oct. 8, 1949, in Virginia, peacefully passed away on Dec. 8, 2023, in Asheville. Jerry’s life can be described as a journey of dedication and service, from his accomplished career to his military service and cherished hobbies.

Jerry dedicated an impressive 39 years of his life working as a Field Service Technician at Air Liquide before retiring in 2012. Throughout his career, he exhibited unwavering commitment and expertise in his field. Jerry’s colleagues admired his professionalism, problem-solving abilities, and meticulous attention to detail. His work ethic was unmatched, and his contributions left an indelible mark on the company.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jerry honorably served in the US Army, stationed at Fort Bliss, TX, during the Vietnam War Era. Jerry’s military service exemplified his dedication to the principles of liberty and justice.

Outside of work and military service, Jerry possessed an insatiable curiosity and an affinity for craftsmanship. Woodworking was one of his passions; he had a natural talent for transforming blocks of wood into beautiful creations. Jerry derived great pleasure from tinkering with electronics, fascinated by their inner workings. Additionally, Jerry had a profound understanding of electricity – an aptitude that he applied whenever the opportunity arose.

Jerry’s family was deeply important to him throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his loving parents John and Hazel Duncan Hanson; he is also preceded in death by his siblings, Shirley Bobbitt, Dale Hanson and Karl Hanson.

Jerry will be remembered and forever missed by his surviving family members, including his ex-wife, children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His enduring love, care, and guidance touched the lives of all those who were fortunate enough to know him. Jerry’s legacy as a devoted father, sibling, and grandparent will continue to resonate in the hearts of his loved ones for generations to come.  Above all else, he valued family and leaves behind a cherished legacy filled with memories that will be forever treasured.

A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, at the Wells Events and Reception Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS  66675.

The care of Mr. Hanson has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville and an online memorial register is available at “Obituaries” at www.wellsfuneralhome.com.
