Kenneth Dewey Boyce

Sunnyvale, CA-Kenneth Dewey Boyce, formerly of Hillsdale, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at the age of 74 after a short illness.

Born Mar. 20, 1940, he was the son of Gladys and the late Okey Boyce of Lewisburg.

Ken graduated from Union High School in 1958 and graduated from West Virginia University in 1963 with a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. He moved to Sunnyvale, California to work for Lockheed Aircraft as an Electrical Engineer. Later he worked in computer design. In 1978, he moved to Hong Kong, as an International Sales Reprehensive for Intel Corporation, where he lived for several years and traveled extensively throughout the world. After returning home he continued his design work in the computer and cell phone technology industry. He retired in 2011.

Ken loved music. As a youth, his vivid imagination and his love for the ham radio and science led him to his career in engineering. As a teenager he had rare opportunity to listen to the Russian Satellite “Sputnik” as it orbited the earth from his home ham radio. Ken never forgot that he was a country boy from a small town in West Virginia and stated “that a rock thrown in a small pond causes many ripples.” Ken created many ripples in his lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his father, Okey Boyce.

He was survived by: his mother, Gladys Boyce of Lewisburg; his wife, Amy of Sunnyvale, CA; four children, David and wife Charlene of Newport News, VA, Chris and wife Anne of San Diego, CA, Kendra Boyce Meadows and husband David of Wolf Creek and Rene Boyce Mengart and husband Kenny of Sinks Grove: step-son, Patrick Ing of Sunnyvale, CA; three sisters, Carol Flanagan and husband Jimmie of LA Vale, MD, Linda Moore and husband Kermit of Lewisburg, Gaye Forren and husband Jim of Greenville; and the mother of their four children, Rosa Lee Boyce Keeling, a special friend of the family; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Pickaway with Rev. Frank Naglic officiating.
