Dedication planned for Blue Sulphur Springs Pavilion

On Saturday, July 1, at 11 a.m., a formal dedication ceremony will be held for the restoration of the Blue Sulphur Springs Pavilion. Located about 9 miles from Alderson on Blue Sulphur Road, the restoration of this local landmark has been the work of the Friends of the Blue Committee, under the sponsorship of the Greenbrier Historical Society (GHS). Everyone is welcome to attend this celebration.
In 2013, Mrs. Rebecca Fleshman Lineberry donated the Pavilion and two acres to the Greenbrier Historical Society so it could be restored. The Friends of the Blue Committee (Alex McLaughlin, Chair, and members Cathy Bolt, Irma Smith Cadle, William “Skip” Deegans, Margaret Hambrick, and Ray and Lynn Tuckwiller) has worked diligently to accomplish this goal. They had plenty of help from the Division of Arts, Culture, and History, Randall Reid-Smith, Curator; the State Historic Preservation Office, Susan Pierce, Deputy Director; the Mills Group; The James F. B. Peyton Foundation and other funders; great contractors, and funding and support from people all across the country.
Cathy Bolt, daughter of Mrs. Lineberry, said, “It is a dream come true.”
