Russell Lee Pomphrey
Ronceverte-Russell Lee Pomphrey, 82, passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at his home.
He was born Feb. 17, 1932, in Pickaway. He was the son of the late Thomas Owen and Sally (Jenkins) Pomphrey.
Mr. Pomphrey worked for Hercules and most recently for Walmart. He was of the Methodist faith and attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Pickaway. Mr. Pomphrey was a US Navy veteran serving during the Korean War aboard the USS Ajax.
Mr. Pomphrey was a dedicated family man. He loved his grandchildren dearly. He also loved his associates with whom he worked at Walmart and the feeling was mutual.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife, Eleanor Hinkle Pomphrey; son, Don Lee; daughter, Launa Pearl; granddaughter, Tammy Bostic Mcie; and brothers, Earl, Buster and Charles.
He is survived by: daughter, Sarah Bostic (Fred) of Ronceverte; sisters, Betty Harvey of Roanoke, VA and Anna Firebaugh (Dale) also of Roanoke, VA; granddaughter, Jennifer Rider (Luke); grandson, Freddy Bostic; great-grandchildren, Evan Bostic, Lakene Flenner (Brandon) and Trista Mcie; and great-great-granddaughter, Ellie Brielle Flenner along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte with Pastor Stewart Fancy officiating.
Friends may visit at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
