Albert Lee Burns
Alderson-Albert Lee Burns, 72, passed away on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at the Peyton Hospice House, Fairlea, following a short illness.
Born Oct. 28, 1941, in Second Creek, he was the son of the late Clyde Leslie and Ada Forren Burns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Della Pearl Highlander Burns; and brother, Lewis “Butch” Burns.
Mr. Burns was a retired laborer, having retired from Mullican Lumber Company, Ronceverte, after 25 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith, loved to watch TV game shows, and spend time at home with his family.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty J. Burns of Alderson; two sons, David Burns of Lewisburg and James Burns of Lewisburg; five daughters, Dorothy Bryant and husband Elmer of Alderson, Kathy Thomas and husband Harry of Sinks Grove, Diane Weiford and husband Victor of Lewisburg, Cyndi Franks and husband Lloyd “Bo” of Alderson and Vickie Baker of Minneapolis, MN; three step-children, Patrick Thomas of Alderson, Jason Thomas of Sinks Grove and Wendy Thomas of Lewisburg; brother, Roger Burns of Alderson; three sisters, Pam Kane of Ronceverte, Joyce Shumate of Ronceverte and Helen Wilson of Alderson; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two uncles, Donald Forren and wife Virginia of Parkersburg and Robert Forren of Alderson; a special niece, Donna Galford and husband Mike of Gap Mills; many nieces, nephews,and cousins; and his special little buddy, his dog, Shorty.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 11, at Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, where Pastor Jonathan Hunt officiatied.
Burial was in Old Greenbrier Memorial Cemetery, Alderson.
Friends called Thursday, Sept. 11, at the funeral home before the service.
Serving as pallbearers: David Burns, James Burns, Elmer Bryant, Chris Burns, Brandon Burns and Andy Holcomb.
