Mac A. Ray

Ronceverte-Mac A. Ray, 70, of passed away on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, surrounded by his family after an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 20, 1944, in Baltimore, MD.

Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Ray; his father, Mac Falter Ray; infant sister, Ruby Pearl Ray; niece, Becky Ray; and granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Jones.

Those left to cherish his memory include: his loving wife of 50 years, Cornelia Ray; brother, Gary Ray and wife Clara of White Sulphur Springs; daughter, Carrie Ray Jones of Ronceverte; son, Walter Ray and wife Heather of Asbury; niece Teresa Ray and companion John of Quinwood; granddaughters, Telia Jones and husband Adam of Ronceverte, Christiona Jones and husband Chris of Rainelleand Lindsey Ray of Asbury; grandson, Gavin Ray of Asbury; and great-grandchildren, Alicia and Christian of Rainelle.

Mac attended Liberty Missionary Church in Ronceverte and was a member of many clubs and a contributor to many charitable organizations, both local and abroad. His hobbies included studying woodworking and carpentry, fishing, hunting and camping. Making his unique ideas come to life in his workshop, and spending time with family and friends, especially Jim Rollinson and Roy Ridgeway.

By profession, Mac was a millwright. He retired from Mead Westvaco after 44 years of service in 2007. He was also what we would call a “Jack of all Trades and a Master of None.” Mac enjoyed a lifetime full of learning. He was always willing to lend a hand to any neighbor in need. Mac Ray was a very special man who touched the lives of many, and will be missed and remembered by all.

His funeral service was held on Thursday, Sept. 11, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Roneeverte where visitation preceded the service. The Reverends Donnie Weikle and Lewis Brooks officiated.

Burial followed the service in Riverview Cemetery in Ronceverte.

Pallbearers include: Walter Ray, Michael Anderson, Roy Ridgeway, Jim Rollinson, Shawn Bittinger and Robert Bittinger, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, 502 Monroe Ave., Ronceverte, WV 24970.
