The White Sulphur Springs Lions Club will again collect used eyeglasses as they have done for the past several years. Used eyeglasses can be donated at the Little General/Marathon Gas Station on Main Street in White Sulphur Springs on Friday, Oct. 31 from 6-8 p.m. Every child who visits the Lions table will receive a treat.
A separate box will also be available at the Little General location for new school supplies which are always needed. Crayons, paper, glue, and so forth are most welcome. All donations will be delivered to the WSS Elementary School.
The used eyeglasses will be checked, cleaned and catalogued to be given free of charge to people in need who fit the prescriptions. Every year thousands of used eyeglasses are collected by Lions worldwide and distributed usually in third world countries.
In White Sulphur Springs, people in need of eyeglasses who meet the criteria can get their glasses from the WSS Lions Club. The WSS Lions also screen all elementary children at the school each November to catch early vision problems.
Sight preservation is a major focus for all Lions Clubs and we hope you will help us by recycling your used glasses into our hands.
