The Alderson Town Clock was installed earlier this week after impressive fundraising and organizing efforts spearheaded by Stacy Eskins, a Main Street Alderson volunteer and Alderson resident.
Eskins took the initiative to approach the town and get the gears turning on the project, which quickly gained the blessing of local officials and organizations.
“It’s a day many have been eagerly anticipating, and what a gorgeous day it was for the clock to arrive,” said Eskins in a social media post last Wednesday. “I have to say, it turned out perfect… not only the clock, but the entire site looks so inviting. What a wonderful way to welcome residents and visitors alike to the heart of town. I truly hope everyone enjoys and takes pride in this beautiful addition to Alderson. And, I can’t say THANK YOU enough to those who made this all possible!”
Eskins thanks the following people and groups for their efforts: A total of 180 personal and corporate donors, Alderson Main Street, the Town of Alderson, Construction Site Manager Lewis Halstead (LEH, LLC), Tony Cole with Tony Cole Construction for the concrete, Gill Merritt with Merritt Electric for the electrical, Antonio Lopez for the brick masonry, TerraCare Inc. for the landscaping, Canterbury Designs for the bollard covers, and the Verdin Company for the clock.
“This project was completely 100 percent funded by donations made by caring individuals who want to see improvements made in Alderson,” said Eskins. “All donations were made through Alderson Main Street, a US 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.”
