The New River Community and Technical College Office of Workforce Education will offer three noncredit community education classes in Lewisburg, during the month of October.
Toxins Versus Health with instructors Paula Zorn and Delsie Swearingen is a new class that will meet from 6-8 p.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 2 and 9. Topics include ways to cleanse your body of toxins, contaminant and hormone balance disruptions that can accumulate in the joints, cells and bloodstream.
Swearingen and Zorn have spent years studying the chemicals, toxins and other harmful ingredients found in food and other products. Swearingen is a trained life coach, and Zorn has a degree in exercise physiology and has been a massage therapist for 26 years. Tuition for this class is $10, and the deadline to register is Sept. 30.
Fall Gardening and Planning for Spring will be offered on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Villa Willis and Willa Izzo of the Master Gardeners of Greenbrier Valley are the instructors. The class will meet from 10-11 a.m.
The gardeners will cover topics such as composting, taking a soil test, how to divide perennials and the seven reasons why you should plant in the fall. Cost for this class is $10, and the registration deadline is Oct. 1.
Digital Photography will be taught by professional photographer Mark Romano from 5-9 p.m. on Oct. 6, 7 and 9. The class is suited for beginners as well as those who wish to improve their skills. Students will learn tips tricks and techniques for taking better pictures. Romano will cover topics such as subject matter, lighting, aperture and exposure. He also will discuss camera function and how to utilize features. Students will take photos in class with instruction and guidance.
Tuition is $125, and the registration deadline is Oct. 1. Students will need to bring 10 photos to be critiqued, a camera with manual, new batteries, a memory card with not many photos on it and a tripod.
