Betty Lou Staton Hizer

Alderson-Betty Lou Staton Hizer, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022 at CAMC-General.

Born Oct. 27, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Everett Lee and Bessie Ellen Kirby Staton.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Calvin M. Hizer; son, Calvin M. Hizer, Jr. (infant); brothers, Emery L. and Richard Stanton; and sisters, Thelma Mae Staton Brooks, and Louise V. Bryan.

Betty was a member of the River of Life Church of God of Alderson. She was a homemaker and loved crochet, painting, making clothes, and loved her many cats and dogs.

Betty is survived by daughter, Shirley L. Garten and her husband Bernard P. of Alderson; sister, Pearl Martin of Lindside; granddaughter, Kayla M. Garten of Alderson; great-grandchild, Antonio Garten; and several nieces and nephews.  

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, at the River of Life Church of God with Pastor Anthony Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Missionary Baptist Church in Clayton.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to Lantz Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
