At a meeting of the Greenbrier County Republican Club, Barry Bruce, one of our two House of Delegates representatives for the 42nd district, announced that effective Dec. 3, 2021 he will be resigning his seat in the House. Citing health issues that require a knee replacement and back surgery, the delegate said he cannot “in good faith, attempt to go to Charleston to represent you.”
In other news, democratic State Senator and State Senate Minority Leader Stephen Baldwin announced on Tuesday that he will be seeking re-election. Baldwin, who represented the former District 10 in the Senate last session in his first term, seeks re-election to the newly drafted District 10. The only change to the new District 10 is the addition of Nicholas County. Baldwin gave an announcement speech in Ronceverte, and declared his intent to focus on infrastructure issues, broadband internet, flood mitigation, and bipartisanship.
