Auditions slated for Carnegie Children’s Choir

All children interested in joining the Carnegie Children’s Choir for the 2014-2015 year are invited to audition on Tuesday, Sept. 9, between 4 and 5:30 p.m. The choir invites any child age 9-14 who enjoys singing to audition for the choir. Auditions will be on a first come, first served basis in the Hamilton Auditorium at Carnegie Hall. New this year: Every singer must audition in order to be a member in the 2014-2015 Carnegie Children’s Choir. This means that if your child has been a member of the choir for one semester, or for several years, they too need to audition. Each child will be asked to sing one verse of “America the Beautiful.” A $30 tuition fee will be required of each student participating in the choir; however, scholarships are available for anyone who needs assistance.

Being a member of the choir is a wonderful chance for children from different counties, schools and grade levels to work together to produce beautiful music. The mission of the choir is to provide an opportunity for children to sing in a community choir, to learn quality choral literature, to further develop their musical skills, and to learn proper performance and rehearsal etiquette. Susan Adkins is the director; Leah Trent is the accompanist and administrator. For more information about the choir auditions, please call Leah Trent, Education Director at Carnegie Hall, at 304-645-7917.

Carnegie Hall’s Children’s Choir is presented with financial assistance from the WV Division of Culture and History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the WV Commission on the Arts.
