Norma Jean Fancy Beale after a short illness and still beautiful at 83 years old; took her awaited journey to her Savior and Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014.
A woman of faith, a protector and angel to all, her steadfastness and values came from a time and era long gone.
Norma was born Feb. 3, 1931, at Coal City, WV, daughter of the late Sanford and Gertrude Akers Farley.
She traveled the world with her family for 20 years as a military wife before settling in Lewisburg in 1965. The stay at home mom then began working, first at Winkler’s Printing and Office Supply in Lewisburg, now the location of The Livery. She next worked many years for her brother-in-law at Melhorn Jewelers in Lewisburg, now housing the Irish Pub. She was former manager of two stores in Lewisburg, the Super Dollar Store and T&E Wholesale. She was owner of the Super Variety Store which was located at the now “Green Space” in Lewisburg and former owner of Duds and Suds Laundry Mat.
At 62, she then worked for K-Mart and remained there for 21 years. She worked until May 28th of this year, resigning in June 2014.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: sisters, Geneva B. Burns and Catholine Melhorn; brother, Eldridge Farley; and niece, Judith Melhorn Baker.
Survivors include: three sons, Rudolph “Pete” Beale, Jr., Timothy B. Beale, both of Lewisburg, and Stephan A. Beale and wife Sandra of Ronceverte; grandchildren, Stephanie Lynn Puffenbarger, Jonathan Matthew Beale, Ryan Allen Beale, Michael Evan Beale, Sarah Elizabeth Beale, Jason Scott Hall and Kevin Patrick Hall; niece, Sue Ann Johnson and nephew, Michael Paul Burns. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, with Rev. Chad Dingess officiating.
Burial will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
Flowers of sympathy will be appreciated, however, the family requests in lieu of flowers that donations of sympathy be made in her honor to the Peyton Hospice House and mailed to Peyton Hospice House, 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
