Emily Meadows of Ronceverte has been named a 2014 Kroger Scholar and will receive $1,000 to assist with educational expenses for the upcoming year.
Meadows is the daughter of James Meadows, a Kroger associate in Ronceverte.
A program of The Kroger Co. Foundation, Kroger Scholars is open to children of associates across the Kroger family of stores. Funds can be used at an accredited two- or-four-year college, university or vocational program.
Meadows is one of 15 Kroger Scholars in the Mid-Atlantic region, composed of Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and the eastern portions of Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio.
For the 2014-15 school year, a total of 366 students will receive Kroger Scholars awards.
The Mid-Atlantic Division operates 118 stores, 113 pharmacies and 75 fuel centers in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and the eastern portions of Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio. Headquartered in Roanoke, the Mid-Atlantic Division is dedicated to making a difference in the communities it serves by supporting hunger relief, women’s health, our troops and their families, local schools and grassroots organizations. Kroger is also a strong supporter of the Salvation Army, American Red Cross and organizations that promote the advancement of women and minorities. Last year, Kroger’s Mid-Atlantic Division contributed nearly $13 million to communities served.
