UPDATE: POSTPONED. Due to an unforeseeable issue with the building’s surface that will take two weeks to remedy, the May 14 unveiling must be postponed until a later date yet to be determined.
Cross Creek Hospitality is pleased to announce the grand unveiling of a new mural in White Sulphur Springs at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 14. The public is invited to be among the first to see this magnificent addition to the downtown streetscape. The mural will comprise the east-facing exterior wall of the historic Bowling Hardware building at 697 Main Street East, soon-to-be home of Big Draft Brewing, The Local Cafe, and Cross Creek on Main–a live music and events space.
The mural celebrates the natural beauty of Wild and Wonderful West Virginia. Renowned artist Craig Reagor completed the massive design first as a seven-canvas acrylic panorama. The project has consumed several months of Reagor’s time throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The final rendering of Reagor’s painting will measure 8.5′ tall by 120′ long, totaling 1,020 square feet.
Craig Reagor hails from northeast Florida but considers himself lucky to have discovered West Virginia where he and wife Wendy, also a painter and mixed media artist, now split their time. Reagor studied drawing and painting at the Colorado Institute of Art. Today, his work is inspired by the outdoors, and, in particular, the wildlife he encounters with a fly rod in his hand. Both his and Wendy’s work may be found in Studio 3 at Lee Street Studios in Lewisburg.
