Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) continues the run of the hilarious musical farce Lucky Stiff, July 24-26, 30 and 31 and Aug. 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $26 for general admission, $23 for seniors and $20 for children/students. For the run of Lucky Stiff, GVT will offer a pre-show dinner catered by the Mason jar, at an additional $20 per person. For tickets or more information, call the GVT Box Office at 304-645-3838 or visit www.gvtheatre.org.

Harry Witherspoon is overworked and underpaid and feeling down on his luck. He is ecstatic to learn he’s inherited 6 million dollars from an uncle he’s never met. However, to receive the money, he must escort his dead uncle on an all-expense paid “vacation” to Monte Carlo. Upon arrival Harry learns he’s not the only one vying for the money, Harry must stay one step ahead of dog advocate Annabel Glick, the gun-toting, legally blind Rita La Porta and Rita’s milquetoast, asthmatic brother Vinnie.

Kim Morgan Dean, who portrays La Porta, believes Lucky Stiff is a wonderfully hysterical musical comedy.

“The show is a perfect dose of summer-time farce-complete with mistaken identities, a few chases, a lot of dogs, and over-the-top characters all trying to get their hands on the same six million dollars,” Morgan Dean said. “Like the opening number says: ‘Something Funny’s Going On.”’

Lucky Stiff has a delightfully eclectic cast of characters with broad comedic versatility, playing such roles as a suave Italian, a vivacious nightclub singer and a drunken maid to keep Harry on his toes.

“Never have I seen a show that combines so many comedic archetypes from various nations. You have a stuffy English solicitor in one scene, then an impulsive ditzy girl from New Jersey in the next and then a suave Italian gentleman in another,” said Ryan Gallerani.

Gallerani is a Summer Intern at GVT and has multiple roles in Lucky Stiff “It’s fun to keep up with all of the different silly accents. I’m working with such a talented, hilarious cast who can seamlessly leap from one character to another,” Gallerani said.
