Business conducted during the Tuesday evening county commission meeting included an approval for Sheriff Jan Cahill to hire William McGuire as a civilian hire for the Sheriff’s Department. Cahill said, “He will be a good fit.”
The commissioners signed three contracts approving the Community Participation grants for the Greenbrier Historical Society. The Blue Sulphur Springs Pavilion received $6,500; the Barracks building received $5,000; and the Society’s Headquarters received $4,000.
New or reappointed county board members were noted as follows: Kellen Leef and Linda Rogers to the Arts and Recreation Committee; Lloyd Burns, Warren Hunter and Sherman McClung to the Planning Commission; Diane Browning, Kermit Morgan and Robert Rogers to Homeland Protection; and Jerry Long to the Housing Authority.
Commissioner Woody Hanna stated that there is still a position open on the Planning Commission and he asks that any interested party contact the County Commission to apply.
The commissioners met in executive session at the close of the meeting to discuss the progress of the pending litigations in two Civil Action suits. No action was taken, Commissioner Mike McClung reported following the session.
