The Children’s Home Society would like to invite the public to an open meeting at Village Park in Rupert on Monday, June 2 at 5:30 p.m., to learn more about plans for a new Emergency Child Shelter in the town. The Society has operated the Lewisburg Child Shelter in Fairlea for over 20 years, providing care for children who cannot live with their families for many reasons, including abuse and neglect. Over a year ago, issues with the existing shelter led the Society to determine that there was a need for a new facility. Many months of searching have led them to an opportunity to purchase a property in Rupert that will make an excellent home for the children served in the Emergency Shelter program.
Representatives from Children’s Home Society’s local office, as well as from the Administrative office in Charleston, will provide information about the agency, the Emergency Child Shelter program and the property being considered for the new facility. The public is encouraged to attend and learn about the services provided to children and families in our community. Refreshments will be served. For more information, please call the Society office at 304-647-3430.
