“On behalf of the entire Ronceverte Volunteer Fire Department we want to say thank you to all of the citizens who took the time to donate to our department.”
Over the Memorial Day weekend you may have noticed some smiling faces in the streets of Ronceverte. The Ronceverte Volunteer Fire Department did their annual Memorial Day bucket drive. They collected everything from pennies to $50 bills and it is all appreciated by the entire department.
The department spends the money on equipment maintenance, utilities and training for their fire fighters. Like many nonprofit organizations they depend on the community to keep the lights on and grow from year to year. It may not be the coolest place to gather donations but seeing so many familiar faces graciously donating makes the sacrifice worthwhile. It is a volunteer department so they choose to serve the community but they owe the community for allowing them to serve.
