The Maxwelton Ruritan Club presented the Greenbrier County Health Department with a certificate of appreciation and gift cards for all the employees during the September meeting. The club wanted to thank the workers for keeping our community safe, healthy and informed.
Tia Humphrey accepted the certificate and spoke to the members about COVID-19 and all the other important work that the health department does for our residents. The Maxwelton Ruritan club has been serving our community since 1953 and are known for operating our ice cream concession stand at the State Fair of WV. We provide scholarships to local high school students, participate in Adopt A Highway, and give donations to local agencies. Our latest project is installing fire hydrants in the Maxwelton area.
If you are interested in being a part of our organization, we encourage you to come to meet us! The Maxwelton Ruritan club meets the fourth Thursday of each month at the Henning Church of God beginning at 6:30 p.m. Bring a friend and a facemask, as we follow the guidelines for face coverings and social distancing.
