The Greenbrier Artists recently met for their annual planning meeting, although it was a little different from the usual Carnegie Hall scene. The meeting was held outdoors at Hollowell Park with everyone wearing masks.
The artists have been busy painting during their “stay-at-home” time, and many beautiful paintings and cards were displayed for show and tell. Spring and fall exhibits were cancelled, but art is still being shown in the Greenbrier County libraries in Lewisburg and Rainelle, and in the Greenbrier Physicians’ offices in Fairlea. Some of the artists also are exhibiting at Tamarack.
They are planning some outdoor paint outs and future meetings in person this fall, and they have started doing show and tell activities via emails.
When shows and receptions are permitted again, they hope to do a special exhibit of “coronavirus” art which would demonstrate how art changes during isolation.
Greenbrier Artists, a nonprofit group with nearly 90 members last year, is committed to promoting art in the community. They hope soon to be meeting regularly in Carnegie Hall and bringing exhibits back to local venues.
