Asheville, NC-Mason Bell, 93, of Asheville, NC died July 17, 2020 at Deerfield Episcopal Retirement Community. He was the son of Amoret Moore and James Harvey Mason Bell and a native of Lewisburg, West Virginia.
Interment will be at Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg, West Virginia with family members in attendance at a graveside service.
Mr. Bell was a nationally known commercial carpet executive. He worked for Bigelow Sanford Carpet Company for 30 years. At the time of his retirement, he was Vice President of Commercial Carpet. Subsequently he was Vice President of Marketing for Mohawk Commercial Carpet. His last position in the industry was as Vice President for Business Development for the Karastan-Bigelow Commercial Carpet Division of Fieldcrest Cannon, Inc.
After retirement he was involved in consulting work in the industry. He was a member of Clan MacMillan Society, Navy League of the U.S., and The Saint Andrews Society of Upper South Carolina. Mr. Bell served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and the Korean War. He was a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
He is proceeded in death by his wife of 68 years, Ann Field Bell. He is survived by his five siblings and his children: daughter Elizabeth Ellis and her husband David of Wilmington, Ohio, son Robert Mason Bell and his wife Kim of Charlotte, North Carolina and grandson Mason Thomas Bell and his wife Samantha of Fort Benning, Georgia.
