On Saturday, Apr. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity is inviting residents throughout Eastern West Virginia to the Grand Opening of its new ReStore. Opening the Saturday after Earth Day is symbolic for the Habitat ReStore since all the materials and items for sale in it are new or gently used donations that would otherwise end up in area landfills.
“If you are doing spring cleaning and would like to get rid of that extra clutter around the house and in the garage, don’t throw it out! Donate it to the ReStore! We’d love to have it and it will help us build more houses!” said Kelli Martin, the ReStore manager.
Local residents have already begun dropping off donations to the ReStore. Barbara Burdette from Fairlea donated enough materials and appliances to partially construct a kitchen. “We purchase new things and throw perfectly good things away just because we want to have something that is shiny and new. Why do this when we can help others and keep things out of our landfills,” Barbara said.
White Sulphur Springs Mayor Lloyd Haynes has been looking forward to the Grand Opening, saying, “I am thankful that Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity has chosen White Sulphur Springs as a place not only to work with families in need, but to open a ReStore that will increase business in the city.”
“This is an exciting time for Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity and we’d love for everyone in the community to consider joining us for our Grand Opening! Donate, shop, or volunteer! Each of these efforts brings us that much closer to making sure everyone has a safe and affordable place to live.” said Kelli.
The new ReStore is located at 37 East Main Street in White Sulphur Springs and business hours will be Thursday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
