On his appointment, Gordon Campbell said, “I’m honored to be able to support the members and staff of the Greenbrier Historical Society (GHS) in this role. The Greenbrier Valley has a fascination and diverse history and I’m excited that we have an opportunity to tell that story. I look forward to many new ways of unlocking our past through our properties, collections, and archives. There are many exciting things happening at GHS right now and I’m humbled to be a part of that journey.”
Gordon Campbell joined the board of the Greenbrier Historical Society in 2019. He had a 30-year career in business working in executive capacities for several major retail chains, including Wal-Mart stores and the Home Depot. He and his wife, Tracy, relocated full time to Lewisburg in May 2017. Since arriving in the Greenbrier Valley, Gordon has focused on developing a full-time antiques business. Allegheny Antique Works specializes in local antiques, primitives, and militaria, and has presence both locally and online. He has had a lifelong passion for learning about, preserving, and sharing American history, with a specific focus on military history. Gordon is a graduate of Boston University and served as an officer in the United States Army.
Margaret Hambrick, who has left the office of president after eight years of service, commented, “We welcome Gordon with his fresh perspective and energy to our leadership role. We learn and grow with each change, and this one promises to be a terrific experience.”
