Eva McVey, 16, will hold a benefit concert to assist the youth at River of Life Church of God, in Alderson.
The youth group is planning a trip in March to attend Winterfest, which is a youth conference in Knoxville, TN. The conference is held annually and includes well-known Christian artists and speakers.
Eva, who is homeschooled and a Nashville recording artist, sings Contemporary Christian music. She trains vocally in Nashville also, as well as recording there. She is well known in this area for her rendition of the National Anthem, which she sings at Alderson 4th of July and other celebrations in the area, as well as at Greenbrier East High School basketball games. She also does the anthem daily at the WV State Fair, and sang it at a WVU Basketball game in December. She was chosen as one of four finalists in a nationwide National Anthem Contest in November. Eva has sung in many venues around the country. Her album is currently on iTunes and is getting nationwide radio airplay. One song from the album has moved up to the top 5 on the International Christian/Inspirational Internet Radio chart!
The concert will be held Saturday, Mar. 8, at 7 p.m. at the River of Life Church of God on Rt. 63. The youth group will perform a drama, as well as accompany Eva on one of the songs from her album at the concert. Admission is free, and a love offering will be taken. All proceeds from the concert will go to the youth group for their trip. For information, call 304-445-2495.
