Virginia “Ruth” Herndon, 79, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at the age of 79.
Ruth was born July 25, 1940, in Renick.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and her lifelong best friend, Violet Kellison. She loved her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Bob Herndon. Also preceding Ruth were her mother, Delphia Cochran and her brother, Paul Cochran.
Ruth Herndon is survived by her children, Debbie Schoolcraft and husband Jerry of Buckeye, Bobbie Byers and husband Eddie of Asbury, Lynda Byers and husband Avery of Lewisburg, Rich Windon and wife Missy of Rainelle, Bobby Neal Herndon of Asbury, Crystal Herndon of Asbury, Bill Herndon of Asbury, step-daughters Kathy Sorrels and husband Bobby of Stuarts Draft, VA, and Sandy Lowe and James of Dayton, OH, and step-son Jeff Herndon and wife Karen of Bradenton Beach, FL; grandson Steve Adkinson and wife Sam of Marlinton, granddaughter Tina Davis and husband Bryant of Lexington, VA, granddaughter Brandy Baldwin and husband Brent of Renick, special granddaughter Heather Cox and husband Jake of Rainelle, special grandson Adam Triplet and wife Kayla of Celina, OH, granddaughter Audrey Herndon of California, and grandchildren Cole and Kimberly Windon of Rainelle; great-granddaughter Elizabeth Morris and great-grandson Hunter Morris of Ronceverte, great-grandson Drake and Little B of Lexington, VA, great-grandson Bransen Baldwin and great-granddaughter Brikenzie Baldwin of Renick, special great-grandsons Graysen and Ollie O’Quinn of Rainelle and special great-granddaughter Paisley Cox of Rainelle.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Jan. 13, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, where speaker Gary Cochran officiated. Burial was in Droop Church Cemetery in Pocahontas County.
Visitation was held before the service at the funeral home.
