Frankford-Chester Phillip Sampson, 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, at his home.
Born July 21, 1930, at Lewisburg, he was the son of the late James Alfred and Virginia Pluma Harvey Sampson.
Mr. Sampson was a U.S. Army, Korean War Veteran. He was a member of the Anthony Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW. Chester worked for Bethlehem Steel and was also a self-employed contractor. He loved gardening, having crab feasts, singing, and spending time with his loving family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Phillip Sampson; grandsons, Paul Edmond Sampson and Caleb Alexander Sampson; and brothers and sisters, William “Bill” Sampson, Earl Sampson, Dorothy Wolk, Fern Bertier, Pat Meredith, Delbert Sampson, and Alice Jones.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years: Janet Campbell Sampson; sons, Stephen Edward Sampson (Lisa Marie) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Keith Russell Sampson (Lisa Ann) of Estonia, Europe; daughter-in-law, Jessica Sampson of Danville, IL; brother, James Sampson (Faith) of Arkansas; sisters, Carol Dean (Larry) of Lewisburg, and Hettie Hancock of Virginia; grandchildren, Christopher, Daryl, Jeremy, Alexander, Sean, Candice and Phillip Sampson and Corissa Sampson Hunt; great-grandchildren: Lennox and Wallas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, with his son Keith Sampson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10, at the funeral home.
