Alderson-Mary Pauline (Cooper) Bennett, 83, passed away suddenly Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center from multiple medical complications.
She was born Jan. 8, 1936, in Lawn, WV, a daughter of the late Charles Raymond and Ethel Irene (Martin) Cooper.
Mary was a beloved homemaker and mother, who enjoyed gardening, flowers, and was known as a seamstress by trade. She was a devout member of the Griffith Creek Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her deep love of family, friends, and neighbors.
She is survived by sons, James Earl Bennett and wife Aleasa of Talcott and Charles Ray Bennett and wife Sue of Alderson; daughter, Barbara Ellen Bennett and companion Richard Whitwell of California; brother, Howard Cooper of Alderson; sisters, Dorothy Cooper of Alderson and Grace Parker of Dawson; grandchildren, Lori Beth Bennett of Oregon, Aaron Campbell Bennett of Alderson and David Alexander Whitwell and Kira Nicole Whitwell both of California; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Oliver Earl Bennett, who passed away in 2002.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, Herbert Cooper and Harold Cooper.
Viewing was at Griffith Creek Baptist Church Saturday, Nov. 30, with the service immediately following where Pastor Audie Sorg and Evangelist Tim Spencer officiated. Interment followed at Maude Chapel Cemetery in Dawson.
