White Sulphur Springs-Jimmy Durante Shannon, Jr. (Jimmy Dude), 52, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
Jimmy was born Mar. 3, 1967, in Chesapeake, VA, the son of Linda Jean Salvemini Stevenson and the late Jimmy D. Shannon, Sr.
He had lived in Charlotte, NC and Clifton Forge, VA prior to living in White Sulphur Springs. Jimmy was a former truck driver and then a stay at home dad, which was his greatest joy.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Durante Shannon, Sr.; stepfather, Robert Steinspring (Stiney); and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include his wife Rebecca and daughter Lillian Grace of White Sulphur Springs; mother Linda Stevenson of Clifton Forge; sisters Tammy Burrows (Clyde) of South Carolina, Tina Shannon of Sharon, VA., Lisa Holley and Christy Shannon both of Charlotte, NC and step-mother Jackie Shannon Sports of Charlotte, NC.
Jimmy’s greatest joy was being a husband and father, he had such a big heart and only wanted to help those he loved. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation was held on Wednesday evening, Nov. 6, followed by a memorial service at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs where Pastor Ralph Hubbard officiated.
