Charleston-Rosemary Christina Logan Winston, daughter of the late Reverend Christopher “CC” Logan Jr. and Cassie Brown Logan, was born June 29, 1951, at Ronceverte, and was called to her heavenly home, Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, at Saint Francis Hospital in Charleston, WV.
Rosemary was baptized at Mount Tabor Baptist Church at an early age and continued to be a faithful member until her physical health no longer allowed it. Rosemary loved the Lord, worshipped and praised Him at every opportunity.
Rosemary was a graduate of Greenbrier East High School, class of 1969 and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling and Rehabilitation in 1973 from Marshall University, Huntington, WV. After graduation, Rosemary was employed by the Federal Correction Institution (FCI), Alderson and transferred to FCI, Butner, NC, where she met and married the love of her life, Roy A. Winston. Rosemary, Roy and their three children moved “home’’ to Lewisburg in the summer of 1999 After 38 years of togetherness, he passed away in June 2014. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Big Mommy), sister, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor, who loved everyone and was loved by everyone who crossed her path. Rosemary never meet a stranger.
Rosemary leaves to celebrate her life: mother, Cassie Brown Logan of Fairlea; sons, Rashaun (Keisha) Winston, White Sulphur Springs, Christopher “CC” Winston; daughter, Rashanda Winston of Lewisburg; stepsons, Terrill and Fred Thornton; stepdaughter, Darcel Thomton, all of North Carolina; grandchildren, Keishaun and LaShawnti Winston of White Sulphur Springs, Pya Landis and Taylor Thornton of North Carolina; brother, Christopher (Chucky) Logan III of Roanoke, VA; and sisters, Joy (Doreen) McDonald of Newport News, VA, Twana Logan Jackson, Toni (Darrewll) Logan Hughes, both of Lewisburg, Judith (Simeon) Logan Anthony and Tara (Anthony) Logan Williams, both ofNashville, TN; and a dear special friend, Neva Jo Gordon of Lewisburg.
Rosemary’s Homegoing Celebration service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Lewisburg, with Rev. Ronald Sherrod and Rev. Greg Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg.
The family will receive friends and family from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family will accept contributions.
