Secondcreek-Harold Michael McCarty, 63, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, at The Brier in Ronceverte.
To many people Mike was known as Santa Claus. He was a very special person to everyone he met and never met a stranger. He worked at Mullican’s in Ronceverte for 30+ years.
Mike was born Feb. 22, 1956, in Alvon, to the late Mason Edward McCarty and Nancy Lucinda McMillion McCarty.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Virgil, Roy, Ralph, and Clinton McCarty.
Survivors include brothers, Mason Junior McCarty (Susan), Howard McCarty (Elizabeth), Lee McCarty (Janice) and James McCarty; sister, Susie Arnold (Luther); special nieces and nephews, Charles McCarty (Mandy) and Chris McCarty (Tasha), Tammy and David; and lots of friends and family.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Oct. 20, at Mount View Primitive Baptist Church in outer Ronceverte, where Pastor Arnold Morgan officiated. Burial followed in Highland Park Cemetery by procession.
Visitation was Saturday evening, Oct. 19, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte.
