Asbury-Delphia Virginia Bennett Lemons, 86, passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019, at Greenbrier Health Care Center in Fairlea, following a long illness.
Born Mar. 25, 1933, at Alderson, she was the daughter of the late James Luther Bennett and Jewel Ballengee Bennett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Calvin Cecil Lemons, in 2014; brothers, Cecil Bennett and Harold Lee Bennett; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry and Mary Lemons.
Mrs. Lemons was a retired employee of Appalachian Electronic Instruments, where she worked as an electronics assembler. She was a member of West Point Baptist Church in Asbury. She enjoyed cooking, gardening (especially flowers), listening to bluegrass and southern gospel music, and spending time with her grandsons. Mrs. Lemons had resided at Seasons Place Assisted Living from January 2015 until September 2019.
She is survived by a son, Edward Lee Lemons and wife, Karen, of Asbury; daughter, Sharon Lemons Moody and husband, Bobby, of Lewisburg; four grandchildren, Lloyd C. “Bo” Franks and wife, Cyndi, of Alderson; James Matthew “Matt” Lemons of Asbury; Dr. Mark Edward Lemons of Taylorsville, MS; and Derrick Cecil Davis of Lewisburg; two sisters, Doris O’Neil of Zephyrhills, FL, and Carol Carter of Ronceverte; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Wanda Bennett of Louisa, VA; sister-in-law, Betty Bennett of Alderson; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, with Rev. Ron Miller and Pastor Emory Hanna officiating.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville.
