Lewisburg-Charles William Weldon, 80, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at Peyton Hospice House, Lewisburg.
Born Mar. 20, 1939, in Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Charles Strong and Julia Jones Weldon.
Mr. Weldon was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. To provide for his family, Mr. Weldon was a chauffeur for Ollie Cohen, Inc. in Boston, MA. He held several positions within the Miami-Dade County government, and he provided security services for the Cricket Club condominiums. Upon his return to West Virginia, Mr. Weldon worked for the WV Daily Newspaper and Ruby Tuesday restaurant in Lewisburg.
He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Ronceverte and attended the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Wilda Williams, James, Raymond, Mary, and Willie Weldon and Premelia Turner.
Survivors include his loving wife, Elaine Woods Carter Weldon; son, Patrick Weldon (Maritza) of Miami, FL; daughter, Shirley Sanderson of Columbus, OH; sister, Louise Weldon Smith (Bob) of Ronceverte; stepson, Jerry Edward Woods (Cheryl) of Lewisburg; grandchildren Lisha Brown, Daryl Howell, Nadine Sanderson, Tiffany Myles, and Nias Weldon; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Homegoing service were held Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Lewisburg, where Pastor Ronald Sherrod officiated.
Visitation was at the church one hour before the service.
