Frankford-Rev. Lula B. Collins of the Vago Community, Frankford, went to be with her Lord Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.
She was born Dec. 22, 1925, on Boone Mountain in the Vago Community of Frankford, the daughter of the late Andrew Lee and Ada Virginia Boone Yates.
She was a member of Emmanuel Open Bible Church and the former Neal Chapel Church in Vago.
Lula became a licensed minister on Jan. 18, 1957. Her ministry was carried out over 62 years starting at Neal Chapel and then retiring from Emmanuel Open Bible Church.
Preceding Pastor Collins in death other than her parents were sisters, Little Bea, Ruth, Annabel Hughes and Betty Hughes; and her brother Eck Yates.
Surviving are her sister, Phyllis Dotson of Frankford; nieces and nephews, Wanda Hughes (deceased), Donna Huffman (deceased), Mitchell Hughes, Mark Hughes, Pam Yates, Alexix Gebron, Mike Dotson and Linda Stacy (deceased); great- and great-great-nieces and nephews, Scarlette Clarkson, Brayden Doss, Jade Yates, Travis Dotson, Ashley Johnson, Nikki Dotson, Tommi Stacy, Katie Stewart, James Perry (deceased), Scott Huffman, Legend Huffman, Hanley and Jada Johnson.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Emmanuel Open Bible Church on Vago Road where Pastor Gary Devart, Pastor Hat Defibaugh and Pastor Aaron Hodge officiated. Interment followed in Lewis Chapel Cemetery.
The family received family and friends at the church before the service.
