Beverly White was officially sworn in as the new mayor of Lewisburg during the June 25 city council meeting, along with freshly-elected Citizen’s Party council members Edward Johns, Sarah Elkins, and Arron Seams.
The room was filled with many family members and friends who welcomed the new officials and offered a farewell to former Mayor John Manchester and councilmember Joseph Lutz. As each new member completed their oath of office, conducted by the honorable Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Dent, the attendees rose to a standing ovation.
Afterwards, the new council members were invited to participate in the meeting in conjunction with the current seat holders. The council motioned to readopt the rules that cover the official conduct of the council and council business, and also reviewed the current list of city officers. At the completion of the meeting, Manchester presented Lutz with a plaque honoring his many years of service to the city.
On her appointment, White said, “I am just so excited to be able to serve.”
