Nestled into the beautiful Greenbrier Valley just eight miles west of Lewisburg on Rt. 60, the WV Renaissance Festival will open for its second season on Saturday, June 8. The beautiful scenery provides the perfect backdrop to step out of time for a day at a medieval festival.
Jugglers, jousters, music, magic and mayhem can be found on seven stages throughout the day. There is also a cast of villagers and royalty who will interact with visitors on and off the stage. Circus acts and daredevils will amaze, comedy acts will bring laughter, and encounters with mermaids and fairies enchant the young and young at heart. Rounding out the village are a variety of vendors of handcrafted goods, local brews, and farm-to-table offerings.
The centerpiece of the festival is the live action jousting show performed by the Hanlon Lees Action Theater, a performance in three acts. Between joust shows there are activities for the whole family, from games of skill to an escape room; medieval dance lessons and sing alongs; elephant, camel and unicorn rides; and lecture demos from master craftsmen.
This year’s dates are June 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Admission prices cover all entertainment.
