The Ronceverte River Festival is pleased to present tribute artist Rudy Elvis.
Rudy grew up in a home with parents who loved listening to Elvis’ music; his mother enjoyed his gospel and his father, his blues. Being the youngest of nine children and with brothers and sisters who were huge Elvis fans, Rudy began singing along with Elvis’ records at a young age. As a teenager, he would mimic the moves of Elvis and imagine he was in concert. Elvis has been the strongest influence in Rudy’s vocal style. In July 1975, as a young adult, one of the greatest experiences in Rudy’s life was seeing Elvis live in concert in Charleston.
In 2012, Rudy was asked to perform as Elvis in a benefit for children at the Moose Lodge in Beckley. Rudy took advantage of that opportunity and purchased a jumpsuit and accessories and transformed into Elvis. It was that night, Rudy Elvis was born. Since that time Rudy Elvis has performed in 125 concerts, which consists of fairs, festivals, clubs, lodges, family reunions, class reunions, birthday parties, anniversary parties and numerous personal appearances as the King. Rudy sings over 300 of Elvis’ recordings, which consists of hits from the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s. A Rudy Elvis Show will take you back in time with Rudy capturing the voice, moves, facts and complete aura of Elvis. Rudy Elvis will be appearing Saturday, June 15, at 5 p.m. in the Amphitheater. As always, this is a free performance and everyone is invited.
