Asbury-Janavis “Joann” Avalon Massey Palmer Green, 82, passed away Saturday, Apr. 27, 2019, at Greenbrier Health Care Center.
She was born Oct. 25, 1936, in Ohley, WV, to the late Gart Hobert and Beatrice Gullett Massey.
Joann was the last surviving member of her immediate family, other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold B. Palmer, Sr.; her second husband, Kenneth Green; infant daughter, Peggy Jo Palmer; sister, Genevieve Crystal Persinger; and brothers, Major Thomas Massey, Joyce “Josh Ray” Massey, Darrell Massey, and Gary Lee Massey.
Survivors include her son, Harold “Pete” B. Palmer, Jr. and wife Yvonne of Asbury; grandchildren, Kristy Green, Nick Palmer and Scott Palmer; and seven great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Joann will be held Saturday, May 4, at 1 p.m. at Asbury Emmanuel United Methodist Church with Pastor Jesse Pope officiating. Visitation beginning at 12 noon until time of service.
A reception will follow the service at the Asbury Community Center.
