The Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center (GVAC) has several exciting new updates this week, including the official approval of the organization’s 501(c)(3) status.
GVAC’s Director of Community and Donor Engagement, Jamie Hamilton, said in a newsletter on Thursday that after six months the IRS has endorsed and approved the new tax status. This means that the Lewisburg Foundation will no longer hold the funds on behalf of the GVAC, and a new account for donations will be established to help the center pursue corporate and foundational grants and gifts. So far, the organization has raised $2,295,553, which is 38 percent of the estimated total necessary to complete the center.
Along with a new tax status, the aquatic center’s development site has been confirmed and approved. Hamilton said, “Located a short distance from the initial target site, we are happy to put this step behind us and move forward with the survey work and logistics needed to plan for our future development. A big thank you to Kelly Collins with the State Fair for her hard work on our behalf, and for TAG’s efforts to get us to this point.”
The GVAC will be at the Lewisburg Chocolate Festival on April 13, as well, inside the Greenbrier Valley Visitor’s Center. They will offer custom truffle pops from Holl’s Handcrafted Swiss Chocolates.
