After another successful Creative Youth Art Exhibit, Carnegie Hall’s Old Stone Room walls will transition from Greenbrier County students’ art to “The Wild,” works by Misty Murray-Walkup.
The gallery will open with a reception this Friday, Mar. 29, at 5 p.m. as part of Lewisburg’s First Fridays After 5 Celebration. Carnegie Hall features three galleries, which will be open through Apr. 26.
Misty Murray-Walkup is a working artist and illustrator of over 25 years and a lifelong resident of Greenbrier County. She has loved drawing and painting since childhood. While she enjoys painting in a variety of mediums, she prefers oils and acrylics. As a self-taught artist, she has worked my entire artistic career honing and developing her painting style. She recently became a member of the Greenbrier Artists where she attended her very first workshop with Arthur Evans. In 2018, Murray-Walkup became a Tamarack juried artist and looks forward to entering her work into shows beginning in 2019.
She has had several solo exhibits and has illustrated several books. Recently, she published a book of her collection of wildlife prints, “The Wildlife Art of Misty Murray-Walkup.” Exhibiting her art across the United States, she has won numerous awards for my work over the years. Most recently, she was awarded People Choice at the White Sulphur Springs Dandelion Festival annual art show, and Best in Show at the Rupert Library Annual Art Show.
Carnegie Hall exhibits are free and open to the public Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more information, please visit carnegiehallwv.org, call 304-645-7917, or stop by the Hall at 611 Church Street, Lewisburg.
