From patchwork to the dresdan plate, carefully crafted quilts will be on display at the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center in Lewisburg.
The Alderson Quilters and Crafters Guild will open their show at 5 p.m. on Mar. 1 during First Fridays After Five. The hand-crafted pieces will remain on display throughout March as part of the Art in the Valley exhibit.
Members of the guild will be at the visitors center during First Fridays After Five quilting as well as selling raffle tickets for their annual “rent” quilt. Proceeds from the raffle are given to the Alderson Community Center to pay “rent” for the guild’s meeting space.
The Alderson Quilters and Crafters Guild is stitched together by their love of sewing and community. The quilters meet monthly to learn new skills, share ideas and showcase their personal projects. The guild also collaborates yearly to create the “rent” quilt.
The Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center began the Art in the Valley exhibit in 2014 as a way to highlight local artists. Each month the gallery space features a new artist, with an opening during First Fridays After Five.
