Local artist and teacher Phyllis Crickenberger is guest artist in the Old Stone Room Gallery at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg. The show will be up through Feb. 22. The show includes 36 original paintings, primarily watercolors and a number of matted prints.
Phyllis also has been juried into the Tamarack show “A Teachable Moment,” which will hang at the Beckley facility Mar. 3-31.
Phyllis earned her Bachelor of Science degree plus 30 graduate hours from West Virginia University. She taught 22 years in Pocahontas County – 11 years of art at Hillsboro and 11 years of second grade in Marlinton. She began her teaching career in Prince Georges County, MD, then taught at White Sulphur Springs High School before moving to Pocahontas County.
Phyllis is the widow of Dave Crickenberger, who was District Conservationist in Pocahontas County for 23 years. She and Dave are the parents of Katie C. Ickes, Sara, Joe, and Tom Crickenberger. They are the grandparents of Caroline, Andrew, Anne Katherine, Mary Claire, and David Ickes and Sarah Beth, Samuel, Naomi, Jacob, and Grace Crickenberger and great-grandparents of Graham Ickes.
