The newest member of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department was sworn in on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at the Greenbrier County Courthouse.
Desiree Vaught, who was appointed by Sheriff Bruce Sloan, was sworn in by Greenbrier County Circuit Court Judge Robert Richardson. Vaught is currently the only female law enforcement officer in the county.
“We have very high expectations for her, and are very pleased to have her working with us,” said Sloan, “and I hope this will make more women interested in applying. We need more female officers and are glad she applied.”
When asked how she felt about her appointment, Vaught commented that she was excited to start working with the department.
