The Ladies of the Henning Church of God met on Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the church fellowship hall for their regular monthly meeting. President Carole Spencer presided and Marty Burns led in prayer.
Dyan Hefner gave the devotion, “What are you most grateful for?” Family, friends, food, shelter and health are some examples that we are grateful for. We need to live a life of gratitude. We go through many circumstances that can make us a better person.
Charlotte Smith Taylor played college ball for UNC and made the 3 point game winning shot in 1994 against LA Tech with only seconds to go. She also played for the WNBA. She considers her biggest accomplishment is being able to share Jesus Christ. We need to have an attitude of gratitude. Would we still be grateful women, if God still does nothing else for us?
Barb Seldomridge gave the missionary education report, “From the Field,” written by Reverend Ralph Shupe, with scripture reference, Ephesians 2:20. This article is written about a school in Reque, Peru (Latin American Children’s Fund) that was built upon the foundation of Christ as chief cornerstone. The school started out as a barren plot of land covered with trash over 20 years ago. Now it has school buildings, church and a library for the students. The school has ministered to many students and their families and will continue to meet many challenges with prayer and help from supporters.
Jamie Harvey gave the treasure’s report and Pauline Perkins read last month’s minutes. The group reported sending 115 cards, making 16 visits, and making 29 phone calls. Carole thanked everyone for successful apple peeling and making pies. The group made around 390 pies.
The Christmas dinner for the group will be held Dec. 4. Secret pals will be revealed. The group will serve the Maxwelton Ruritans on Dec. 20. The church will hold a Pastor Appreciation dinner on Jan. 13. The next meeting will be held Dec. 4.
