Communities In Schools of Greenbrier County (CISGC) will partner with Community Connections, Inc. for their upcoming community training, “How Will You Reduce Youth Drug Abuse?” Participants will learn about the current trends, signs and symptoms of drugs abuse for our youth; the appeal of drug use; the impacts of prescription drug abuse and non-medical use; prevention tips and help to safely store and discard medication; and local resources for treatment. Community Connections, Inc. is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Established in 1991 by a dedicated group of service providers and families, Community Connections reaches multiple counties, including Greenbrier County, through the Governor’s Substance Abuse Taskforce and their “Prevention Without Borders” initiative.
The training is open to parents, faith groups, youth-oriented volunteers and all those caring for our youth. CEUs may be offered and please call for more information. The training will be offered from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23 at New River Community and Technical College in Lewisburg, classroom 418.
