For the past several years, a local art group, the Greenbrier Artists, has cooperated with the Lewisburg Literary Festival to celebrate reading and art by holding an art exhibit based on the written word.
The exhibit is held at the Greenbrier Valley Visitor’s Center on East Washington Street in Lewisburg.
Their exhibit opened on First Friday and continues throughout the month of August. The show features art based on poems written by some of the artists or their family members. They invite the public to come view the art, most of which is for sale.
Greenbrier Artists is a nonprofit group dedicated to the education and promotion of art. They currently have a membership of more than 90 area artists who work in watercolors, pastels, oils, acrylics, fabric, and mixed media. They meet each week at Carnegie Hall to paint, share ideas and demos.
Their organizational meeting to kick off the upcoming year will take place on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 9 a.m., at Carnegie Hall in the Kellar Studio. Anyone interested in art (any level) is invited to join them.
