As of Saturday, Aug. 4, the Save-A-Lot grocery store located in the Greenbrier Valley Mall in Fairlea will close its doors due to “not enough sales.”
Staff members were told of the closing earlier this week, on Tuesday, July 31. The closing will not initiate any special deals, as the remaining merchandise will be transferred to other Save-A-Lot stores.
Save-A-Lot’s closing follows the closing of both K-Mart and Magic Mart, leaving Fairlea residents with fewer shopping options. Many attribute the recent scourge of store closings to Wal-Mart’s predominant sales in the area. This will leave another empty storefront in the Greenbrier Valley Mall, which has already lost K-Mart in its store lineup.
