White Sulphur Springs-Dana Waid Young, 64, entered into her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at the Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.
Dana was born Oct. 5, 1953, at the Abbott Clinic in White Sulphur Springs.
She was a graduate of Greenbrier East High School, Fairlea, in 1971 and received her EMT Paramedic certification from Bluefield State College In 1995. She joined the Anthony Creek Fire Department and Rescue Squad in 1985 and over the years she held the office of Secretary, Squad Captain, and Squad Training Officer. She also held certifications in Fireman ship 1 & 2. She had served as a paramedic for WSS EMS and Anthony Creek Rescue Squad.
Dana had a very strong compassion for helping and caring for people in need. She always wanted her patients to know and feel that they were important and that she truly cared about them and their health.
Dana was a devoted wife, mother and Nannie. She absolutely loved her grandkids and loved spending time with them and creating wonderful memories. She loved going to the beach, one of the most peaceful and beautiful places on earth. She liked going to the lake and camping. She loved the Lord and attended the Neola Baptist Church.
Dana was a nurse for almost 30 years. She was previously employed by Valley Medical Associates, Lynn Smith, MD, Dorris Ragsdale, MD, WVVA. Health Care Alliance, Belinda K. Smith, DO, Canterbury Family Practice, Jayne L. Canterbury, DO, Greenbrier Primary Care, Cindy Mann, FNP, Justin Jeffries, DO, Alderman’s Pharmacy and Greenbrier Medical Arts. She also had they best coworkers anyone could have the pleasure of working with over the years.
Preceding her in death was her mother, Ruth Hanna Waid in 1981; her father, Calvin Carson Waid in 1996; and her brother, Roger C. Waid in 2010; mother and father-in-law, John and Lillian “Sis” Young and sister in law Helen Scott.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband and teenage sweetheart of 45 years, Johnnie Ray Young of Neola; son, Jaron R. Young of White Sulphur Springs; Todd Clay Young and wife Debbie of White Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Clay Young of Beaver, Tyler Young, and Jacob Young, both of White Sulphur Springs; step-granddaughter, Bre Humphreys of White Sulphur Springs; Sister and brother in law, Judy and Edwin “Boss” Young and many nieces and nephews and close friend and adopted daughter, Crystal Young.
Dana attended the Neola Baptist Church. She had an amazing loving pastor and church family who supported her with prayers, love, food, and encouragement. She dearly loved each and every one.
The amazing outpouring of love and support from her dear friends and close family members, church family, with love, cards, food, gifts, daily visits and phone calls, totally overwhelmed her with joy.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 23, at 2 p.m. at Neola Baptist Church up Rt. 92 with Pastors Ralph Hubbard, Lowell O’Dell, Roger McDaniel and Mr. Leo Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Watts Cemetery at Neola.
There will a visitation held Friday, June 22, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Neola Baptist Church for friends and family.
Pallbearers are Tim Stanley, Steve Arbogast, Raymond Honaker, Jack Dean, Otis Canada, Buster Varner, Buck Ayers, Brent Young and David Young.
