On Tuesday, June 5, West Virginia State Police arrested Carl Wayne Rich, 33, of Charmco, after he allegedly shot a man in the chest following an altercation involving a cell phone.

According to the criminal complaint, earlier in the evening Rich got into an argument with a man after his cell phone went missing. Rich stated that if the phone wasn’t returned, “someone was going to get shot.” Rich became more agitated before shooting at him with a compound crossbow. The victim was taken to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

Rich was arrested on first degree murder charges and is currently being held in Southern Regional Jail.
